Product Review: e.l.f. Mineral Foundation

Posted on: September 28, 2011

Interested in switching your pricey mineral foundation for something a lot more budget-friendly? e.l.f. mineral foundation costs a mere $5, but check out my review after the break to see if it really stands up to the more expensive brands.

First Impressions

At first, I was surprised when I received this in the mail. It was smaller than I had anticipated, but for $5 I wasn’t complaining too much. When I went to apply it, I had to try several different brushes before I found one that worked to distribute the foundation evenly on my skin. What’s great about this foundation is that the coverage is buildable; it starts out modest, but you can continue to add more and blend to achieve the desired level of coverage that you want.

I was lucky that the foundation matched my skin tone; I am very fair, so it’s always difficult to find a product that matches without having to blend it with another product to get the right color. I also liked how my skin looked after I had finished applying the foundation. It seemed smoother and more even, and my redness was gone! Plus, it didn’t make my skin break out like other makeup does. I have extremely sensitive skin, but this didn’t irritate it at all.

While e.l.f. mineral foundation started wearing off halfway through the day, I still say that for the price you can’t find a better mineral makeup. When used in conjunction with their concealer, you can’t go wrong. Some people may have difficulty finding the right shade (they only have 5,) but I’d definitely recommend trying it out to see if it works for you.

Have you tried e.l.f. mineral foundation before? What did you like/dislike about it? Leave me your thoughts below, and as always, stay lovely!
