A Lovely You – Makeup Tips for Every Woman

Since Tangerine Tango is THE color of the year, I’ve tracked down six different tangerine-inspired lip hues for you to try. Because some of us might not be daring enough to wear a bold orange lip, I’ve also included a couple sheer options for those of us who want a nice hint of color without the full-on commitment.

1. Armani Beauty Rouge Sheer d’Armani Lipstick in Acid Tangerine

As hydrating as a lip balm but with the pigmentation of a lipstick – genius! ($30, Barney’s)

2. Sephora + Pantone Univerise Tangerine Tango Cream Lipstick

The color of the year that glides on smoothly for flattering color that lasts. ($18, Sephora)

3. Boots No7 Lip Glace in Tangerine Twist

For a sheer take on this hot hue, keep this gel-like gloss in your bag at all times. ($9.99, Target)

4. Estee Lauder All Day Lipstick in Coral Tangerine

The marriage of coral and tangerine makes this lippy a pure win. ($21.20, BeautyMatic.com)

5. Paul & Joe Beaute Lip Gloss in Tangerine

This sheer tangerine gloss also contains plumping ingredients! ($22, dermstore.com)

6. Sephora Collection Be You Lip Stain in Peach Gelee

For a juicy, tangerine-inspired hue that lasts for hours, this lip stain is a must-have. ($12, Sephora)

Do you have a favorite tangerine lipstick, gloss or stain to share? Don’t be shy! Leave a comment with your favorites 🙂

Rimmel London has just launched the first collection of lipstick created by Kate Moss – the Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick Collection. Available in five fashion-forward shades, the U.S. collection includes:

  • 01 – a deep brick red
  • 04 – a royal purple
  • 08 – a dusty rose
  • 12 – a candy coral
  • 14 – a blushed nude

Next season, Kate Moss and Rimmel will debut additional shades that capture the latest trends. Says Kate Moss:

My inspiration for this range was really to create a range of easy to wear, chic, modern shades that I have always worn and loved. From bright reds to soft pinks and nudes, there is a shade for everyone and any occasion. It was also really important for me that they were comfortable to wear. Whatever your outfit there is sure to be a shade to match!

While the lipsticks are designed to be bold and highly pigmented, the addition of a Black Diamond Pigment Complex supposedly makes the color even more radiant on lips. Plus, they’re formulated with Vitamin C and E and are allegedly super creamy.

Price: $5.49

Availability: Drugstores and mass market retailers nationwide

While I don’t subscribe to an entirely cruelty-free beauty regimen, I do like to look for natural/cruelty-free products when I can. If you’re looking for cruelty free  lip color, look no farther than these recommendations.

1. BWC Natural Infusion Moisturizing Vegan Lipstick

Made from a blend of natural/organic waxes, these vegan lipsticks are reportedly soft, creamy and very moisturizing. They have 12 colors available to choose from so you’re almost guaranteed to find a shade you love.

($21.95, Alternative Outfitters)

2. OCC Lip Tar

100% vegan and cruelty-free, OCC Lip Tar contains a blend of hemp oil, peppermint oil, and Vitamin E to soften and condition lips without drying like some conventional lip color can. LOTS of shades to choose from, including bright and bold shades for the daring!

($13.50, occmakeup.com)

3. EcoTint Moisturizing Lip Tint

With over 90% certified organic ingredients, you can feel good about using these cruelty-free balms. Reviews say they are exceptionally moisturizing while leaving a tint of color on lips for the perfect pout.

($4.49, Be Well Stay Well)

4. Red Apple Lipstick

Not only are these lipsticks cruelty-free, but they’re also gluten free, paraben free, AND allergen free. Several shades are available, from soft pinks to vibrant reds. They also offer little sampler packs of three shades so you can find the one that’s right for you. Lovely!

($17.50, Red Apple Lipstick)

Coral has consistently been on-trend for several seasons now, and this spring will be no exception. While you may have rocked coral on your cheeks or nails before, spring is all about the coral lip.

A few to try:

1. Love & Beauty Sheer Lip Gloss in Coral; $1.80, Forever21 (great for just a hint of coral color)

2. Shiseido Perfect Rouge Glowing Matte Lipstick in Coral Glow; $25, Sephora (for a vibrant, red-coral)

3. Laura Mercier Lip Stain in Tempting Coral; $20-22, Saks 5th Avenue (for long-lasting color)

What do you think of the coral lip for spring? Will you be rockin’ this look?

Ah, lip liner – the one makeup item conspicuously missing from my collection. I have tons of shadows, lip gloss, lipstick, eyeliners, and other beauty products but I do not own a single lip liner. Why? Because I firmly believe you do not need it!

The only exception to this is if you really need your lip color to last. If this is the case, make sure to apply liner to your entire lip, not just the edges – and choose a shade that’s no more than two shades darker than your natural lip color. That’s right, ladies; gone are the days where super dark liner and pale lipstick was popular. Now, it’s more about enhancing the natural color of your pout.

If you do wear lip liner, consider foregoing a lipstick and instead coat your lips with a pretty pink or coral lip gloss. This is a much more youthful look, and is fresh and fun to boot!

Tell me – do you wear lip liner? If so, share your tips in the comments below!

I’m what you could call a lip balm junkie – I have to have several different tubes at all times (not to mention I’m constantly losing them!) With that being said, I’ve narrowed my list to include several of what I consider to be the best lip balms I’ve ever used. Keep in mind these are just my opinions – what works for me may not work for you!

1. Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm (Lemon Chamomile)

I purchased this lip balm on a lark, but was instantly amazed how quickly I fell in love with it! The lemon chamomile flavor is pretty delish, and the SPF 25 helps ensure that my lips don’t get fried by the hot So. Cal sun. I recently moved to a windier climate as well, so this lip balm is a MUST-HAVE to protect my lips against chapping.

($7.50, Sephora)

2. Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

A long-time favorite, I always have a few tubes of this lip balm on hand. I love the minty tingle – it makes me think the balm is actually healing my lips, whether it is or not! However, I do think it works – I suffered from severe chapped lips for about a week, but I slathered this on every day and my lips are as good as new.

($3, Drugstores)

3. Blistex Lip Infusion Sheer Liquid Balm

Unlike some lip balms, this doesn’t leave behind a waxy feeling on my lips – plus, I love the neat rollerball applicator! It deposits right amount of balm and it feels so silky as it glides on. I do find that I have to reapply this more frequently than with other lip balms, but I get such a kick out of using it I don’t complain!

($3, Drugstores)

4. Maybelline Baby Lips (Quench)

I was able to try Maybelline Baby Lips in a BzzAgent Campaign recently, and it has quickly become a new favorite of mine. It’s moisturizing and lasts for quite some time, and they give you quite a generous amount in the tube. There are several other flavors I enjoy, but Quench is the one I keep returning to time and again.

($4, Drugstores)

There are so many lip balms I’ve tried and liked, so this list was very hard to compile. However, I think I’ve done a good job narrowing down which lip balms are my tried-and-true picks. Have you ever tried any of these? Which one is your favorite? Leave a comment and let me know!

I love, love, LOVE the new limited edition holiday lip balms from Softlips! The five flavors are available individually or in a gift set and include:
