A Lovely You – Makeup Tips for Every Woman

Archive for the ‘Spring Trends’ Category

White/silver metallic eyes were popping up on runways everywhere, and this look is one of my favorite spring beauty trends for 2012. To get the look yourself, check out these beauties:

This look just needs a wash of metallic silver/white over the lid, and voila – instant glam. You can jazz it up with two coats of black mascara, if you like. Alternatively, ditch the eyeshadow and add a pop of metallic sheen to lids with a silver eyeliner.

What do you think? Do you like this latest spring beauty trend?

One of the hottest trends for spring seems to be navy eyeliner. Less harsh than black, navy eyeliner can make a smokey eye really stand out. A few to try:

1. Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner in Navy, $4.99, Target
2. Tarte EmphasEYES Aqua-Gel Eyeliner in Navy, $18, Sephora
3. L’Oreal HIP Studio Secrets Professional Eye Liner Pencil in Navy, $8.49, Drugstore.com

Fortunately, navy works well with pretty much every skin tone – so any woman call pull this look off. Even though navy can look softer than black, take care to keep the rest of your makeup neutral to avoid clashing (especially if you are doing a smokey eye.) You can have a lot of fun playing around with navy eyeliner, either wearing it alone or combining it with other colors for an eye-popping look. Normally, I stick with black liner – but this season, I think I’ll be trying navy to switch things up a bit. What about you?

I’m really loving the extreme smoky eyes seen on the spring 2012 runways, especially since this heavy makeup doesn’t require such precise application as a traditional smoky eye would.

I love the classic black smoky eye, but with this extreme look you can feel free to play with blues and purples too. What do you think? It’s definitely too harsh for the daytime, but I think this would be a killer nighttime trend to rock.

If you want to overhaul your makeup bag for spring, you don’t have to spend a lot of cash to do so. All of these spring beauty must-have’s are a mere $15 or less, meaning you can totally revamp your look without breaking the bank.

NYX Advanced Salon Nail Polish in Surf

NYX has a lot of nail colors that are perfect for spring, but I  love Surf. It’s a gorgeous pastel blue/green, and reminds me of relaxing poolside or by the ocean with a drink in my hand (preferably one with an umbrella in it.) Plus, it’s super cheap!

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in Cute Pink

Flirty, flattering and oh-so-pretty, Sephora’s cream lip stain in “Cute Pink” is going to quickly become my go-to lip color for spring. It’s a vibrant, shimmery hot pink that has the staying power of a stain with the moisturizing properties of a lipbalm.

($12, Sephora)

Maybelline Perfect Pastels Eye Shadow Trio in Green Gardens

Three complimentary pastel shadows are housed in this compact from Maybelline and will look great worn alone or together for a coordinating eye look. Plus, the compact tells you exactly where to put each shade, so even a makeup novice can use this palette.

($5.99, CVS)

Tokidoki Bellina Blush

This blush from Tokidoki contains two sheer, buildable shades you can combine to create your perfect blush. I love the “Skate Girl” shade, but “Siberia” is pretty too – especially if you want a hint of a bronze glow to liven up your complexion.

($15, Sephora)

Do you have any budget-friendly beauty buys you think are  must-have’s this spring? Please share them with me in the comments 🙂

Coral has consistently been on-trend for several seasons now, and this spring will be no exception. While you may have rocked coral on your cheeks or nails before, spring is all about the coral lip.

A few to try:

1. Love & Beauty Sheer Lip Gloss in Coral; $1.80, Forever21 (great for just a hint of coral color)

2. Shiseido Perfect Rouge Glowing Matte Lipstick in Coral Glow; $25, Sephora (for a vibrant, red-coral)

3. Laura Mercier Lip Stain in Tempting Coral; $20-22, Saks 5th Avenue (for long-lasting color)

What do you think of the coral lip for spring? Will you be rockin’ this look?

There were a lot of models strutting their stuff on the spring runways with wild, shockingly colored hair – including neon purple, red, green and pink!

While this look may not be very practical for every day, I still think it’s a fun way to shake up your spring beauty routine. Hold on, though – don’t reach for anything crazy like permanent dye! Instead, use colored clip-on hair extensions or washable hair dye to create temporary (very temporary) streaks of bold color.

This might not be an every day look, but I think it’s perfect for a night out, or if you’re heading to a sporting event or concert. What do you think? Would you try this spring beauty trend?

Pastels are always hot for spring, but this year makeup artists are taking it one step further and creating beautifully unique eye looks with pastel liner.

I’ve always thought colorful eyeliner is a huge beauty must, but now I’m even more convinced and will definitely be rocking the pastel eyeliner come spring. I think it’s a wonderfully fresh approach to traditional eye makeup, and you need just a little bit to truly make your eyes pop. Alternatively, you can dip a liner brush in just a tiny dab of water and use a pastel eyeshadow to line your eyes for a more dramatic impact.

A few to try:

Pencil Me In Pastel Shades Eyeliner Set, $38, cosmeticmall.com

Barry M Pastel Turquoise Eyeliner, £2.99, ferobeauty.com

POP Beauty Pastel Eye Shadow Palette, $22, CVS.com

What do you think? Yay or nay on pastel eyeliner?
